Singer Model 404 Slant-O-Matic

The Slant-O-Matic Singer Model 404 is a lightweight, heavy-duty sewing machine that's aluminum on the outside and steel on the inside. It was built before planned obsolescence and corporate profit requirements caused the quality of sewing machines, in general, to plummet. In other words this is one of the machines that was built to last a lifetime.

You may be familiar with the famous Singer 401A, one of the best home sewing machines ever made. This is the same machine, made in a straight stitch format.

It's got the same internal motor and gear drive, throughout. It has the same stitch plate height function, the same tension assembly, bobbin winder, presser foot adjuster, the same centrally located sewing light and slant needle design. It's the same Slant-O-Matic machine you're used to.

Because this is such a durable and easy to use machine, this is one that Home-Ec classes used, worldwide.

This is a powerful straight stitch machine for the quilter or crafter as well as the home sewer, and would make an ideal machine for the beginning sewer.

With it's space age beauty and it's Singer functionality, this is truly a fine machine.

Here at Stagecoach Road Vintage Sewing Machine Restoration (Stagecoach Road Sewing Machine) we really love these fine mid-century sewing machines and work to make them the very best that they can be. Because we believe in these built-to-last machines and in the work we do, we offer this Free Lifetime Service Guaranty that if you ever have a problem with one of our restored vintage machines, just bring or send it back to us and if it's something we can fix, we'll fix it for free.
