In Post WWII America, Japanese products didn't receive the recognition that they deserved. As we've seen with the many other products that have come from Japan, great attention to detail and care of construction goes into each one, and these vintage sewing machines are some fine examples of Japanese work.
The Kenmore 904 is first of all a very smooth and powerful, precision sewing machine. Sew boat covers or delicate lingerie on this versatile machine. It easily sews through 8 layers of heavy denim or canvas.
It's a zigzag sewing machine with an easy, bed-mounted feed-drop adjuster and an instant-release, Patch-O-Matic presser foot adjuster, so this is an ideal quilting, machine embroidery, applique, and free-motion sewing machine. It uses standard needles and standard class 15 bobbins, available wherever sewing supplies are sold.
Beyond that, this is a beautiful piece of functional machinery. The styling is elegant. This beautiful Kenmore 904 will grace your sewing room. You won't want to put a cover over it, because it's just so pretty.
Note: Since it's photo session, the machine recieved a good scratch right below the hand wheel. It's my intention to get to drive into town (100 mile trip) to the model shop and pick up some touch-up paint in the matching color. If I get that done before the machine sells, I'll also dab the other paint chips. If not, please take $25.00 off the price shown below.
It's just been restored, meaning we took it down to it's essential systems and inspected, cleaned, lubed, adjusted, tested and detailed it to make it look and run line a new machine. The hook, the upper and lower tension, the motor, the hand wheel, the gear box, the drive and zigzag mechanisms have been opened or disassembled, cleaned, re-packed, oiled, adjusted, whatever it needed. Then the machine was extensively tested and then tested again.
We believe in these fine, built to last sewing machines. In fact we have so much faith in them and in the work we do, that we offer this free Lifetime Guaranty, that if you ever have a problem with this machine, just send or bring it back to us and if it's something that we can fix, we'll fix it for free. You, of course, will pay for any parts or shipping.
